Both of us were pretty tired from all of the stress and sleep deprivation that went along with the pre-wedding planning and the wedding itself, and having to pack and prepare for the trip on Sunday. As such, we got a late start on Monday. Once we got out of the hotel, we went to a vegan restaurant called Karyn's Cooked for lunch. We got an appetizer pizza that was big enough for a meal by itself, along with a sloppy joe sandwich, a steak sandwich, and a side of mac 'n cheese. It was decent food - a little hit and miss, but I liked the pizza and steak sandwich a lot. We had much more than we could eat in one sitting, so we took the leftovers with us.
Next we made a quick stop at Whole Foods to load up on things we could eat, and then it was off to the Apple Store, since we had decided to get an iPod nano with some of the money we received at the wedding. I had seen one at another Apple Store, but Carrie hadn't seen one in person - she was pretty impressed when she got a look at it. It's a fun little toy, and both of us are enjoying it.
The next stop for us was the Navy Pier. We went for a ride on the 15-story tall Ferris wheel, although Carrie wasn't happy about the fact that it was sponsored by McDonald's. Still, it gave us a decent view of the city. Next up at the pier was the Chicago Funhouse Maze. The highlights were the mirror maze and the dizzy tunnel. The mirror maze wasn't overly difficult to navigate, but it was very cool to see. The dizzy tunnel consisted of a non-moving bridge surrounded by a rotating cylinder covered in little lights. The effect was that you felt as though you were spinning even when standing still, and it was incredibly disorienting. We were both pretty off-kilter for a while after the funhouse. The last stop at the pier was a stained glass museum, which was surprisingly good given the tourist-trap nature of the rest of the pier. We took a lot of pictures while we were there, and then it was back to the hotel to eat our Karyn's Cooked leftovers and watch The Exorcist on the laptop.
